Creative visionary with big ideas and an impressive portfolio. Responsible for the design, development, production and roll-out of the entire FEST product portfolio. Guiding the process from drawing board to production in line with the brand values, specs, sustainability requirements and the desired branding of FEST. Always in the know of relevant trends and developments in the field of furniture and design.

About FEST 

FEST is a fast-growing design brand with an extensive collection of furniture and home décor. At FEST we believe that a well-designed interior can make people happy and for that reason, we make high-end design accessible to a wide target group.

Our business model is omnichannel. We have 100+ resellers in over 20 countries and we sell directly to consumers via our brand stores and webshop. Besides, we work closely with interior design architects and the contract market who use our collection to decorate hotels, offices, and restaurants. And it works! FEST is growing rapidly. In 2019 the company got listed in the FT1000: the Top 1000 of Europe’s Fastest Growing Companies selected by The Financial Times.

Context

The Head of Design is responsible for developing and managing all aspects of our design and creative output. It's a leadership role, with accountability for our whole furniture and home deco collection and success of the design and product development department. You will ensure the design and creative deliverables are aligned to stakeholder expectations and executed within budget and deadlines.

Provides the creative vision not just for the design team but for the whole organization together with the Founder/CEO. Realizes it’s an ongoing process of refinement and evolution.

Responsibilities

1. Portfolio

Bringing our product portfolio to the next level and contributing to the development of the brand. Inspiring the team and CEO with your ideas. Determines the roadmap for the FEST product portfolio in consultation with the CEO and the product development team. Translates this roadmap into annual plans and a collection or individual furniture/accessories. Ensures that this is developed, implemented, and rolled out. During the process, monitors whether products (continue to) meet the specs, sustainability & innovation requirements and brand values of FEST. You set the bar for quality.

2. Management role

Managing the Product Development team and external designers and growing it. The culture of the design team is essential for our success. In addition, manages the design, production and sourcing activities. Optimizing organisations effectiveness through processes and practices. It will involve you using your best practice toolkit to implement new processes and practices to improve the efficiency of the design and creative department.

3. Product Development

Responsible for designing and introducing new products within the FEST portfolio together with our in-house design team and external designers. According to predetermined specs and quality and durability requirements. Maintains contact with designers, suppliers and producers. Coordinates the entire process from design to production and ensures that products meet the predetermined technical, qualitative and purchasing conditions.

• Eye for detail.

• A strong working knowledge of furniture, home decoration and lifestyle.

• Someone with an extensive network and knowhow of the right designers and high quality suppliers that fit the brand.

• Ability to lead design projects from concept to completion.

• Experience with relevant design software.

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Able to work well with other departments as Operations/Supply Chain and Marketing.
